AI In The Cloud

What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing is the delivery of and access to computing services including storage, servers, databases, networking, software, analytics, and much more via the Internet or the cloud. These cloud services are usually offered for usage based fees and companies offering these computing services are called cloud providers.

What is AI - Artificial Intelligence?

According to Techopedia,  Artificial intelligence (AI) is an area of computer science that emphasizes the creation of intelligent machines that work and react like humans. Some of the activities computers with artificial intelligence are designed for include:

  • Speech recognition
  • Learning
  • Planning
  • Problem solving

The term "artificial intelligence" is applied when a machine mimics "cognitive" functions that humans associate with other human minds, such as "learning" and "problem solving.

When AI and The Cloud intercepts

Cloud computing makes AI more accessible since most types of hardware that people use including their personal laptops, computers, mobile phones etc lack the computing power and custom chips to run many of these AI applications proficiently.   Cloud providers are now positioning themselves to offer a comprehensive stack that delivers AI as a Service.  In a lot of ways, the cloud and AI seem made for each other, and many experts predict that artificial intelligence services will be the next big battleground for cloud vendors.  All of the major cloud vendors are investing heavily in artificial intelligence research and development. By utilizing these services many companies are able to leverage resources in AI technology without having to fund all the research themselves.   Machine learning needs data and the more data available, the more accurate analysis and predictions will be. The intercept of huge amounts of data, massive computer and Ai resources, via the cloud is a match made in heaven.

Big tech firms battling over the AI Cloud

Tech firms including Google, Amazon, IBM, Microsoft opened a new front in the battle to win over AI users  and AI enthusiasts in the cloud.   AI in the cloud is not just a power play by the tech giants, but it could very well be and is touted as the next leap forward in artificial intelligence.  The likes of Amazon, Microsoft, and Google, are major players in the Ai Cloud computing space and they are battling to increase their market share. These Cloud service providers offer a wide variety of artificial intelligence and machine-learning services that are quickly evolving.  Obviously such tech giants will find it easier to offer AI Cloud Services as they already have vast amount of computing power and a huge stake in the $40 billion cloud computing industry.   They have massive computing resources and an endless amount of talent required to build such cloud AI facilities.  There is a reason why and its not coincidental that the biggest data holders, Google, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon, are into Cloud AI.  Amazon, via its AWS Amazon Cloud‎ service is leading the way.   Even Google Research re-branded recently and is now simply called Google AI to reflect the company's efforts and push around artificial intelligence and machine learning.  Last year, Google designed a new chip, called a tensor processing unit (TPU), built to crunch the math AI uses.  Google recently announced that they will start allowing other companies to make use of their hardware via the cloud.

Microsoft — The Azure Machine Learning Service provides a lot of the tools and resources that developers need to add AI capabilities to their applications, including the Machine Learning Studio development environment, Spark, Docker, Cognitive Toolkit, TensorFlow, Caffe and more.,,  are perfect domains or assets for any company In the AI Cloud services business. can be a tagline,  marketing campaign, a hashtag, and perfectly describes the services you do if you're in Ai Cloud services.
